GRADE 3

Welcome back to another exciting term of learning and new experiences.

Grade 3 students have been working hard in the past three weeks with reading, writing and numeracy. In writing, students have been focusing on creating persuasive texts.

In the second half of the term we will also be introducing ‘Newstime’ to help our students develop their oral presentation skills. This involves having a group of four students presenting a mock TV news show to the class, with each student assigned a different role, such as the news reader, sports reporter, weatherman and someone creating an advertisement. Each role requires students to collaborate with their peers and also conduct research during the week as to what they will present to the class when it is their turn to speak.

Students also participated in two incursions this term both for Integrated Studies: 1 hour Art workshop at SAM and ‘Orienteering’ at school. With orienteering, they learnt to use a compass and knowledge of cardinal directions to complete activities. They worked in groups and really enjoyed it.

In P.E., students have been introduced to tennis which is a new sport for them. Music sessions are also thoroughly enjoyed by the grade 3 students where they are learning about the different groups of musical instruments e.g. percussion, woodwind, string and brass.

Enjoy the rest of the term.
